User roles in the observer interface

The Applysia observer interface can be used either as a web-based application or as a native iPad app. Here, you can assess and compare candidates during the assessment.

Not every Applysia user has access to the observer interface; access depends on the specific user role assigned to you. This role was communicated to you in the invitation email you received from "Applysia" or a representative of your organization.

If you have been assigned the role of “Observer,” you will have access to the observer interface and can log in there. If you have only this role assigned, you will work exclusively in the observer interface. If you are also assigned the role of “Administrator” or “Workspace Administrator,” you will also have access to the administration interface. If you have been assigned the role of “Observer,” you will subsequently be assigned one of four different observer roles, each with different functions:

2. View consolidated values
   
3. View the conference
   
2. Silent Observer
   
1. No assessing
   
2. View consolidated values
   
3. View the conference
   
3. Lead Observer
   
1. Assess
   
2. Consolidate ratings of all observers (for a specific exercise and candidate - only if the scheduler is enabled)
   
3. View the conference
   
4. Moderator
   
1. Assess
   
2. Consolidate ratings of all observers (for the entire assessment)
   
3. Start the conference and complete the assessment
   

Normal observers actively participate in the assessment by providing ratings and notes on the candidates' competencies. The ratings of other observers are not visible to normal observers. Normal observers cannot perform consolidations. Once consolidated values are established, they are visible to normal observers. The conference can also be viewed after all ratings have been submitted and consolidated.

Silent observers participate in the assessment without providing their own ratings or notes on the candidates' competencies. Once consolidated values are established, they are visible to silent observers. The conference can also be viewed after all ratings have been submitted and consolidated.

Lead observers and moderators generally have similar functions, but there is a main difference: Lead observers can only consolidate individual exercises (for which they are listed as the lead). Moderators can consolidate both individual exercises and entire assessments. Therefore, lead observers are like exercise-specific moderators.

The identity of the moderator for the assessment is marked in the observer interface under “Observers.” If you are a Lead Observer (only possible if the scheduler is activated), an “icon” will appear in the schedule for the respective exercise. If you have neither the lead observer nor moderator role assigned, you are a normal observer.
