Assess: Overview

Assess: Overview

Relevant for: Normal observers, lead observers, moderators (see "User roles")

Click on “Assess” in the assessment overview in the schedule for the desired exercise, and a new page will open.

If the assessment is still in draft status, you cannot assess. While you can click “Assess” in the schedule and open the new page, you cannot evaluate or make notes.

On the new page, you will see the name of the selected exercise in the top line and possibly an “Info-i” next to it, which you can click to read the description of the exercise (if one has been provided).

You can also set a “Timer” that will be visible across exercises. Click on the field with the clock and time in the top line, and a pop-up window will open. You can then set the duration of the timer. By default, it is set to the time previously specified in the administration interface for this exercise. The duration can be easily adjusted by moving the colored dot in the circle – left to shorten the time and right to extend it. Click “Start” to begin the countdown and start assessing. You will now see the set time counting down.
If you click the timer again, you can pause the time, resume it, or stop it. Clicking “Stop” will reset the timer to the set duration of the exercise. To close the pop-up window, click “Close” at the bottom right. The timer continues to run even if you leave the exercise and open another one.

To save your evaluations, click “Submit Ratings” in the top right.

If you are in a group exercise with multiple candidates and want to switch between them, click on the “Name of Candidate” in the top right, and a drop-down menu will open, allowing you to choose between all available candidates for this exercise. If only one candidate is assigned to this exercise, you cannot switch between different candidates. The candidate’s name will not be clickable.

In the web-based observer interface, you work in landscape mode by default and can orient yourself according to the representations in the screenshots 1:1. In the native iPad app, you can work in either landscape or portrait mode. Depending on the format you choose, the view will differ. However, the explanations and screenshots can be easily transferred to portrait mode as well.

In landscape mode, your screen is split into two sections:
  1. On the right side, you can always see and make notes about the exercise and the candidate using the “Pen” or “Keyboard”. You can also add and view competency notes (see “Notes”).
  2. On the left side, you can switch between "Assess" and "Documents" in the lower line (see “Assess” and “Documents”).
In portrait mode, you can switch between “Assess”, “Documents”, and “Notes” in the lower line.

You can adjust the width of the two windows individually by moving the gray “Divider” to the right or left. When you move the divider as far right or left as possible, a “Arrow Icon” appears. Clicking the arrow will completely collapse the smaller screen section. Click the arrow again to expand the section.
