Behavior anchor

Behavior anchor

NotesRelevant for: Workspace administrators, administrators (see "User roles")
On the "Edit Template" page, you will see the "Competency-Exercise-Matrix" after the sections "General", "Settings", "Scale", and "Scale Labels". How to create this and add and edit exercises, competency clusters, and competencies can be found in the article "Competency-Exercise-Matrix".

Within the matrix/table, you can add or edit behavior anchors for the task-competency combinations. As behavior anchors, you can enter various behaviors of the candidates that the observers can then observe and evaluate during the assessment to better assess the competencies overall.
  1. If you see a "⨁" in the matrix, there are no anchors yet.
  2. If you see "[Number of] anchors", then x behavior anchors have already been added and can be edited.

Add behavior anchors

To add a behavior anchor, click on "⨁" in the matrix. The "New Behavior Anchor" page will open. At the top of the page, you will find the corresponding exercise and competency of the new behavior anchor for orientation.

You can add the behavior anchors in various ways.
  1. Click on "Import" to add multiple behavior anchors at once. A new pop-up window will open, where you can easily paste the anchors. However, each behavior anchor to be recorded must be in its own line. To add the anchors, click on "Insert" and your entries will be inserted into the "Description" fields. Click on "Cancel" to end the process.
  2. To record the anchors individually, click in the "Description" field and enter your behavior anchors. To make a new field appear, click on "Add Behavior Anchor".
To copy anchors from one task/competency to another, click on "Import" and copy the already entered anchors. You can now insert these into another task/competency as described above.

For each behavior anchor, you can "Add a custom scale" by clicking. Based on the behavior-based observation approach, you can enter here if different behaviors in an exercise should lead to different evaluation points of the requirements (e.g.: 1: Listens - 2: Listens and summarizes - 3: Responds to what is said - 4: Reflects deeply). In the observer interface, these behavior-anchored evaluation scales will then be displayed instead of the normal scale labels.

Info
Please note that only the scale points to which a custom scale has been added will be displayed in the observer interface. For example, if you only store scale labels for points one, three, and five in the administration interface, only these points will be displayed in the observer interface.
This change only applies to newly added scale points. The behavior anchors in already created assessments will not change as a result.

Once the custom scale is activated, buttons will appear for each level of the selected scale. When you click on one of the buttons, a text field with the scale point will open, into which the behavior description for the corresponding anchor can be individually inserted. If you click on the "All Buttons", all text fields of the scale points will open at the same time. To delete a field again, click on "x" on the right.
Info
The custom scale label can be easily combined with the other behavior anchors.

To delete individual behavior anchors, click on the "Trash" icon at the top right next to each anchor.

To save the added behavior anchors, click on the "Save" button at the end of the page. You will then return to the competency-exercise-matrix, where you can now see how many behavior anchors have been stored ("x anchors").

Edit behavior anchors

To edit a behavior anchor, click on the corresponding fields "[Number of] anchors" in the competency-exercise-matrix. The "Edit Behavior Anchor" page will open.
At the top of the page, you will find the corresponding exercise and competency of the edited behavior anchor for orientation. Below that, you will see all previously added behavior anchors.

You can edit the behavior anchors and the custom scale label by clicking in the corresponding field, as well as delete and add them individually as described in the "Add behavior anchors" section.

If you want to import behavior anchors, click on "Import" at the top and proceed as described in the "Add behavior anchors" section.

If you want to delete all previously added behavior anchors within a task-competency combination at once, click on "Delete" at the top right.

To save the changes, click on "Save". You will then return to the competency-exercise-matrix.

Copy behavior anchors

Already created behavior anchors can be easily copied from one exercise to another by drag & drop. To do this, click and hold the corresponding field "[Number of] anchors" in the competency-exercise-matrix and drag it to a "⨁" field. The anchor(s) will then be copied and you will see how many behavior anchors have been stored ("x anchors").

You can adjust the copied behavior anchors at any time as described in the "Edit behavior anchors" section, as well as delete and add them individually as described in the "Add behavior anchors" section.
