Assess

Assess

Notes
Relevant for: Regular Observers, Lead Observers, Moderators (see “User Roles”)

Overview

By default, you are in the “Assess” and “Overview” sections. You can tell this because the list icon in the lower-left corner is highlighted with the text “Assess,” and the “Overview” section is selected in the upper-left corner. You will first see an overview of the competencies and behavioral anchors to be evaluated in the exercise. Above the competencies and behavioral anchors, you will see a legend with scale labels. If you have chosen scale labels with symbols/characters instead of numbers, these will be displayed in the legend.

Rating

Next to the “Overview” button in the upper left corner is the “Rating” button. By default, the rating scale is hidden. To display it, click on “Rating.” The selected scale - whether with numbers or individual symbols/characters - will then be available for all competency ratings.
Here you can now give your rating of the candidate’s competencies based on the behavioral anchors.

The competencies or behavioral anchors can be assessed in various ways:

  • Evaluation of a competency without behavioral anchors

  • Evaluation of individual behavioral anchors based on the set scale points (see scale labels in the legend)

  • Evaluation of individual behavioral anchors based on custom scales that specify the candidate’s behavior for an anchor.
InfoPlease note that only custom scale points with added labels are shown in the observer interface. For more information on custom scales, see here.

Click the circles next to the behavioral anchors to evaluate an anchor. A moving icon will then appear to indicate that the review is being processed. Once the icon disappears, the review has been saved.

Click on the circles next to the competencies to rate them as well. You can also rate the competencies without having previously rated the individual behavioral anchors.

InfoA competency rating may be missing. In that case, the process has been intentionally paused, and the average competency rating is calculated automatically. This is the automatic competency average feature. The average competency score is displayed to the right of the name of the respective competency. You can find out more here.

When you hover your mouse pointer over the scale points labeled with the assessment-specific color, a tooltip with the scale label will appear so you can always refer to the scale label, even if you scroll down and can no longer see the legend at the top. If you have used individual scale labels with symbols/characters, the same label will appear in the tooltip as in the anchor points.

InfoIf the assessment is still in draft status, you cannot assess. While you can click “Assess” in the workflow plan and open the new page, you cannot evaluate or make notes.

Your entries will be saved automatically. You can proceed to consolidation by clicking the “Consolidate” button in the upper right corner.
If you have not assessed all behavior anchors and competencies, a pop-up window will appear with an overview of all missing ratings. Click on “Back to Rating” to be redirected to the Assess page,
or “Consolidate” to continue. When you click “Back to Rating,” the missing ratings will be highlighted in red. The highlight disappears automatically as soon as a rating has been made.
